– Jose Gimenez could be on his way to join Chelsea this summer from Atletico Madrid
– The Blues boss Frank Lampard is ready to pay the Spanish side the transfer money
– Chelsea are preparing for their campaign next season in all competitions
Premier League side Chelsea are now reportedly turning their attention to the signing of Atletico Madrid star Jose Gimenez in a deal that will cost the Blues £60 million.
Chelsea were initially linked with West Ham United star Declan Rice, but the club have refused to do any business with the Stamford Bridge landlords.
Chelsea have already landed striker Timo Werner and winger Hakim Ziyech, while play-maker Kai Havertz is edging closer to joining too.
Gimenez could add much needed quality to the team defensively with Frank Lampard having focused on attacking reinforcement so far.
After escaping relegation on the last day at the just concluded Premier League season, West Ham United want to keep all their stars for next term.
And since they are not willing to sell, Chelsea are ready to go for Jose Gimenez who plays as a central defender.
According to the report on Daily Star UK, Lampard wants an experienced central defender at Chelsea who will help the Blues in their Champions League campaign next season.
The Blues failed to win any title at the 2019/20 Premier League season and Lampard wants to bolster his squad so as to fight well next term.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Premier League side Chelsea were hit with a severe blow on the possibility of them signing Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Stegen who is now on the verge of signing new deal.
The 28-year-old German currently has two more years left on his contract at Barcelona and there have been speculation over his future at the Nou Camp.
But according to the report on UK Sun, Barcelona are not ready to lose their goalkeeper and they are ready to tie him down for a long term contract.
The report added that the Stamford Bridge chiefs have submitted an offer to Barcelona for them to sign Stegen this summer as replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Arrizabalaga has not been impressive since he joined Chelsea in which there have been calls for Frank Lampard to find another stopper.
